Register now for the 2021 Sitka Health Summit virtual Planning Day on Thursday, Sept. 23

Are you ready to help pick two community wellness projects for Sitka to complete over the next year (2021-22)? Join us for the 2021 Sitka Health Summit virtual Planning Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23, using Zoom.

For the last couple of weeks, the Sitka Health Summit Coalition has been accepting project ideas. These will be brought up during the Sitka Health Summit Planning Day meeting, when participants will start whittling them down to two goals to work on for the next year. The two winning community wellness projects will each receive up to $2,000 in seed money, plus some facilitation services to get the project going.

Past community wellness projects include becoming Alaska's first Bicycle Friendly Community, becoming Alaska's first Walk Friendly Community, starting the Sitka Farmers Market, launching the Fish to Schools program, building the ADA-compliant Sitka Community Playground, supporting the Hames Wellness Center, coordinating the Sitka Community Food Assessment, opening the Sitka Cloud teen center, launching the Sitka Kitch community rental commercial kitchen, designing a Choose Respect mural at Blatchley Middle School, and more (click on the Planning Day and Initiatives tabs for more details).
