Supporting Our Seniors In Sitka meeting helps Sitka improve elder care

One of the two community wellness projects from the 2018 Sitka Health Summit was to expand services and housing options for seniors in Sitka.

As part of the project, the Elders Advocacy Group hosted a presentation on Thursday, Sept. 12, about how to improve the continuum of care for seniors, featuring guest speaker Erin Walker-Tolles of Catholic Community Services in Juneau. In addition to Walker-Tolles' presentation, the meeting also saw distribution of a new Sitka Community Resources booklet, which hadn't been updated in about five years.

The next meeting for this group is from 2-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at the Swan Lake Senior Center.
