2017 Sitka Health Summit "Planning Day": October 11-13, 2017

The 2017 Sitka Health Summit "Planning Day" is incorporating multiple opportunities for community members to come together and learn more about health and health equity. This years process will start on October 11 with a presentation on "Health Equity and Race" presented by our Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Community Coach, Justin Rivas. This program is open to the public and will be held at the Sitka Public Library from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

On Thursday, October 12, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm at UAS-room 229 a session to help those involved in the planning and selection process of two health equity goals will take place with information on equity, what works for health (evidenced-based programs and processes), what health initiatives have worked in other places and a look at local health data from the RWJF County Health Rankings. The SHS Coalition core leadership team along with our community coach Justin Rivas will facilitate.

On Friday, October 13, 2017 from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm at UAS-room 229 the actual Planning Day will take place. The goal of the morning session is to look at all the health related initiatives proposed and select two health goals for the following year that support health equity. In the afternoon the two goals selected will further explored, supported and "set up for success".
