Sitka businesses support the Sitka Health Summit

Sitka Health Summit coalition members gathered on Castle Hill with some of the financial supporters of this year’s 10th annual planning day.

The money raised will go towards supporting two new health initiatives that will be selected at the open forum scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 21, at the University of Alaska Southeast Sitka Campus.

“When we started a decade ago the goals where unfunded," Sitka Health Summit coalition member Doug Osborne said. "Fortunately, both hospitals and this group of generous businesses made donations this summer so each new project can have over $2000 in seed money. Those funds can be leveraged and make a big difference when you are trying to get something off the ground.”

In the picture are Sharon Sullivan of Unity Botanicals, Gina Stearman of Gaurdian Flight, Char Swanberg of Sitka Community Hospital Foundation, Mim McConnell of the City and Borough of Sitka, Coalition member Tamie Parker Song of Brave Heart Volunteers, Lauren Hughey of the SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC), Doug Osborne of Sitka Community Hospital, and Zack Desmond of Brave Heart Volunteers.

Other financial supporters not pictured: Sitka Vision Clinic, White’s Pharmacy, Lakeside Milam Recovery Center, and Southeast Radiation Oncology Center
